A Child Study Meeting was held at Lauren’s school to review over her medical packet. Lauren’s medical results had been scattered throughout her cum record. Fortunately, I had with me the actual documentation.
Finally, there was medical proof that Lauren had a disability. Lauren had CAPD.
I wish I had known more about good nutrition and drinking plenty of water, because it would have made a difference in the lives of my children. My father, a disabled veteran, was able to get weaned off of the many drugs he was taking due to an amazing nutritionist. My father had shared this information with me but I was too stubborn to listen (at that time!)
Lauren began to show defiant behavior in her kindergarten class at the private school. A teacher assistant spanked Lauren. I needed to know why???
Lauren learns to become a little mother with the birth of her baby sister, Katie.
Lauren was accepted into the generic kindergarten program based on the program needing warm bodies for funding purposes and not because she truly qualified. As such, Lauren stayed at the preschool.
Lauren and Andrew began attending a nearby preschool. Lauren began having temper tantrums at the preschool and she was reprimanded by me. Soon, I heard about a generic kindergarten program run by the state. I decided to have Lauren tested to see if she qualified.
We moved to Illinois and stayed until Ron received his training before moving to another state. After we moved, I was able to work as a permanent substitute while Lauren and Andrew stayed with a sitter. However, this didn’t work out when I picked up Lauren and Andrew after work. The sitter had Lauren pinned to the floor and stated she would raise her fee. Of course, her services were no longer needed.
Lauren qualified for a special program sponsored by a university. It was for children having a potential learning disability, but also exhibited high intelligence. It was the perfect program for Lauren, but unfortunately we had to move to a different state to join Ron, who was going through specialized training for the U.S. Navy.
Ron joined the U.S. Navy, so we could have a better life. In the meantime, I wanted to keep Lauren back a year in preschool so she could work on communicating with others. But, the preschool wouldn’t allow it.
